BEGINNERS: GETTING STARTED

WHAT IS YOGA?

yoga propsYoga is a powerful method of keeping your body and mind healthy. Designed over 5,000 years ago, it utilizes mental focus and deep breathing while performing a series of physical movements. Though many come to yoga for the great physical “workout”, it’s the incredible mental benefit of the practice that keeps many coming back.

GETTING STARTED

Your first class at YogaOne is free! New students should arrive at least 15 minutes before class to fill out a New Student Form and discuss any health or injury concerns with the instructor. You are not required to register or sign up for a “session”— just pay as you go.

Wear lightweight, layered, comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. You will build a sweat! The studio is heated to a comfortable 80 degrees, not considered "hot yoga", but warm enough to help you open and safely stretch the body. Bring water and a towel. We do provide yoga mats for your use, but it is recommended to have your own mat. Yoga is practiced in bare feet.

reception and relaxationAs a new student to Yoga, we recommended that you begin with Level 1: YogaBasics. This 75-minute class is geared to the brand new student. Students will learn basic sun salutations and yogic breathing, standing poses and balancing postures, beginning twists and back bending, beginning inversion and forward bending.

It is recommended in the beginning of your practice to attend two or three classes a week. As you build strength and flexibility, you can build up to practicing four or more days a week. You are welcome to stay in the YogaBasics class as long as you like, when you feel you are ready for more you are welcome to try the next level: L1-2.

YogaOne offers classes for all ages and levels. With a wide variety of yoga styles, teachers, and class times, you’re sure to find a yoga practice to fit your schedule.

We look forward to meeting you!
